Bijela Tabija Fortress
Bijela Tabija, located on a hill above Sarajevo, is one of the city’s most prominent historical landmarks. This monumental fortress, dating back to the Ottoman period, served as a key point of defense and surveillance over the old town and the surrounding area. The construction of Bijela Tabija began in the 16th century, during the reign of the Ottoman leader Suleiman the Magnificent. Known for its distinctive white stone, the fortress has undergone numerous changes throughout history, but has always remained a symbol of strength and stability.
